Dr. Nafie is an innovative chemical engineer, entrepreneur, and researcher with over two decades of experience advancing sustainable energy solutions. Recognized as a visionary in her field, she shares her expertise globally, speaking at major climate and energy forums such as COP28, New York Climate Week, ADEPEC, and the CleanTech Group’s event in Paris. Dr. Nafie holds three engineering degrees, including a PhD, from the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at the University of Calgary. She remains closely connected to the university, contributing to innovation and mentorship as part of the Schulich School of Engineering’s Entrepreneurship initiative.
Dr. Vitale has decades of experience in materials preparation, nanoparticles, adsorbents, recovery, and process design. Dr. Vitale holds a PhD from the University of Calgary and has developed technologies from lab to commercial scale. His specialized techniques, creativity and innovation have been recognized by over 30 patent filings.
Dr. Pereira-Almao is a world-class researcher with over 40 years of experience in the development of catalysts and adsorbents at the nanoscale. His career includes leading research roles at prominent institutions such as the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the Alberta Ingenuity Centre at the University of Calgary. Dr. Pereira-Almao is widely recognized for his contributions to advancing materials science and energy technologies through innovative nanomaterial solutions.
Matthew is an accomplished and goal driven drilling and completions consultant with extensive experience in project oversight. Some of his notable achievements include building and managing the largest coil tubing rigs in the world, developing new prototype biofuel plant extraction and lithium extraction plants, and being the founder of Fluid Energy Group (a company focused on safe non-fuming acid for industrial processes) and SixRing (a biofuel company).
